Queensland Teachers’ Credit Union (QTCU), has world’s slowest Internet Banking site

June 17th, 2008

I’ve got a beef. I like Queensland Teachers’ Credit Union (QTCU), but their online banking site really sucks.

QTCU slow siteIt’s usually pretty slow at the best of times, but tonight after trying to login through their net access, I was landed on some charity donation page. I may have even thought about donating except it was so freaking slow to load.

I tried to click through, but go absolutely bloody nowhere. The secure site just kept timing out.

Now I can understand this problem at peak periods like 9:05 AM and lunchtime, but at 8:40 on a Tuesday night it is very annoying and frustrating.

So here’s a few suggestions Queensland Teachers Credit Union:

1. Online banking should be fast, accurate and logical. I’m a busy person. Don’t offer me products, that’s what your main site and the newsletter is for. Offer me fast and secure access so I can do my business and get on with my life.

2. Check your call centre feedback. How many calls are complaints about a slow web site? These calls cost your money. Invest in bigger pipes and a faster computer.

3. Keep the marketing geniuses away from the online banking site. Online banking should be fast as possible. Don’t try to sell customers stuff while they are doing their transactions. It’s a distraction and only pisses us off.

Hey, if it’s faster I’ll happily use a text only site. Fast is good. Slow is annoying notwithstanding the pretty pictures of gnomes and sound effects of glass breaking.
