How to embed a video in a web page - video squeeze page
February 20th, 2008
I wanted to create a video squeeze page to see how it performed in terms of generating qualified leads.
It took few a few hours to work out how to do. I had to :
- embed the video in a subscription form
- make the video autostart
- put the html in a Joomla page without screwing up the code (hint - turn off the WIZIWIG editor and never touch that page again with the editor turned on)
It took me about 3 hours all up to work it out and I found a very cool online tool to help embed videos of all sorts into web pages. This is the link to the tool.
I also found a nice bit of software that converts video formats. It’s called Blaze Media Pro. There is an uncrippled 14 day trial version available at their web site. Very sweet.
One thing I learned the hard way is that not everyone can see you video. They may not have the right player installed, or their employer may block video access. So as not to loose these visitors, it’s a good idea to offer them something so at least you can do a follow up. In my case I give free SEO analysis reports.

Great help. Thanks for sharing.
I always thought it was going to be difficult to embed a video but once I found out how to do it I was pretty amazed by how easy it is. No wonder people use video so much in their websites these days, as it’s so easy to embed and it brings with it such wonderful results. I definitely think I’m going to be incorporating more video into my website. I have a sense it is going to bring many other clients to me a lot more effectively.
